In our little home nestled within the arts district of downtown Bellingham, Make.Shift survives based on the talent, insight and dedication of its staff, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Before we jump into upcoming events, we want to say a truly heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has made this space possible! Your continued effort to prove why all-ages DIY spaces matter helps us continue to grow! *wipes away single tear*
We have sooo many things coming up that make us wanna squeal with excitement but for the sake of brevity we’ll wrap it all up in a neat, three-paragraph(ish) package. This Friday, May 12, we are very stoked to have Porch Cat grace the stage in full band style for their first performance at Make.Shift since Chan has moved back to Bellingham! Welcome back, Chan! They’ll be playing with two other local heroes Pizza Wizard and The Sheen! Saturday will feature Rex Queen, Breakside and Good Sleep! Both shows start at 8 p.m. and cost six bucks to get in. Singer-songwriter and Bellingham veteran Kristin Allen-Zito returns to Make.Shift on Friday, May 19 at 8 p.m. with Seattle’s Tres Leches and local acts Babe Waves and The Vaticxnts. Allen-Zito is best known for her expert lyricism, bittersweet melodies and various musical projects within the Bellingham music scene. Her 2003 electronic band The Trucks went on to tour the U.S. playing various venues and releasing two albums on local label Clickpop Records. Don’t miss it!
Coming up later this spring will be Make.Shift’s all-ages Rock Lotto where bands will be assigned members at random to craft and perform a set on the Make.Shift stage! More details to follow. Also, this August Make.Shift is mixing up our summer schedule with Summer Party in partnership with The Hub community bike shop! We are so excited to collaborate local businesses and bands for this FREE event! Keep your eyes peeled! As always, much more to come next week!
