Apply to use the Magic Van
So you want to go on tour in Make.Shift’s Magic Van. Great! Please read the following guidelines and fill out the application below.
Some ground rules:
The Make.Shift van is a 1986 Chevy Box Van powered by Whole Energy biodiesel. Make.Shift uses the van to transport performing artists to performances on short tours throughout the pacific northwest, lessening
the burden of gas and maintenance costs. Example destinations include: Seattle, Olympia and Spokane, WA. each tour will include at least one under served music community — a community that isn’t exposed to regular
live music. Make.Shift provides this service free of charge to artists selected through the application process below.
Make.Shift emphasizes being real over being politically correct. However, all musicians seeking Make.Shift’s services should be aware of their language and behavior, and think about whether it might be
offensive to others or reflect poorly on our organization. This group does not tolerate violence or intolerance of religious beliefs or lack thereof. We won’t tolerate racist, sexist, homophobic, trans-phobic, or classist behavior, language or lyrics.
Our mission is to provide affordable, innovative and earth-friendly tools and programs that help musicians create, perform and share their music. We want to remind musicians and fans that we can’t divorce our generation’s environmental context from the art we create.
NOTE Your application must include a link to your music online (Myspace, Bandcamp, iTunes, whatever we can stream. We will not review applications unless we can access a sample of your music.

Please Note:
Completed applications will be reviewed by the Musician Review Committee, which will make a preliminary decision regarding to the musician(s) eligibility to receive resources from Make.Shift. The
Musician Review Committee is comprised of eight music-minded community members, including music photographer Hollie Huthman, Cascadia Weekly Reporter Carey Ross, booking agent Aaron Apple, ClickPop Records Owner Dave Richards, Yogoman Burning Band frontman Jordan Rain, and more.
*The Musician Review Committee may choose to interview selected artists to further decide which artist or group is most eligible to receive services.
*The Make.Shift Board of Directors will review the committee’s final choice, with the ability to approve or reject the applicant.
*Musician(s) will be notified of their acceptance or denial in a timely manner. If accepted, a Make.Shift representative will meet with the applicant to discuss details of services.
